Ripe, fat, juicy fruits, great concentration of flavour with a fresh, peppery, jammy black raspberries, licorice, earth, kirsch and spice. This lush wine remains one of the top values in Chateauneuf du Pape.
93/100 Jeb Dunnuck, August 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"The classic 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape comes from tiny, tiny yields and checks in as 60% Grenache, 15% Each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and the rest Cinsault that was 70% destemmed and brought up in a mix of used barrels. It's a beautiful, layered wine that delivers the goods, offering loads of black raspberry fruit, notes of spice, garrigue, licorice, and pepper, medium to full body, good acidity, and a great finish. Beautifully balanced, it can be drunk today with incredible pleasure or cellared for 15 years or more."
91/100 Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, August 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"From yields that averaged just 17 hectoliters per hectare (half the appellation's maximum), the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape contains less Grenache than usual in the blend, being composed of 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault. Cola and chocolate notes dominate this full-bodied, silky-textured wine, adding hints of dried spices and licorice on the finish."
91-92/100 Vinous (2017 Vintage)
"Shimmering magenta. Expressive aromas of fresh red berries, candied lavender and smoky minerals take on a subtle garrigue nuance with aeration. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavours that display outstanding delineation. Shows real energy and finishes long and gently tannic, with lingering mineral and floral notes."
92/100 James Suckling (2017 Vintage)
"Impressive, rich red and dark fruit aromas and flavours here with a very balanced, fleshy palate that is bathed in ripe-plum and summer-berry flavours. Drink or hold."
