The Quiot family, winemakers since 1748, offer a large range of wines from the Rhone Valley and the Provence area. As a family, Genevieve, Florence, Jerome and Jean-Baptiste Quiot run Domaine du Vieux Lazaret.
Located in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and close to other properties owned by the Quiot family, these original buildings have today been extended and modernised, and now form the winemaking centre for Famille Quiot.
The vineyards of Domaine du Vieux Lazaret are spread over 93 hectares, split into 35 different parcels of vines throughout A.O.C. Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It is today amongst the largest domaines in Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"Pale plus dark red with clear purple rim. The nose is warm and beginning to show an attractive complexity characterized by understated red fruits and spice along with leather and tertiary notes. The palate is composed and lighter weight, again exhibiting a measure of bottle development in an appealing mix of red cherry and spice notes. There is a fine, balanced structure. This is an elegant, not heavyweight style expressing Cinsault and Grenache in particular, with the emphasis on finesse rather than power."
92/100 Wine Enthusiast (2015 Vintage)
"Black-plum and mulberry notes are plump and easy on the palate of this velvety, plush red. Ripe and rich, it's elegantly balanced by crisp acidity and fine, firm tannins. Primary and fruity now, with delicate hints of nut and spice, it should develop earth and spice tones through 2025."
92/100 Wine Spectator (2015 Vintage)
"Alluring, with flow to the cassis, cherry compote and raspberry coulis flavours, backed by light rooibos tea, tobacco and dried blood orange accents. The silky finish is sneaky long, offering a light sanguine echo. Drink now through 2025."
