Domaine des Espiers was created in 1989 by owner Philippe Cartoux. The estate consists of 9.5 hecatres of certified organic vineyards from which Philippe makes wines in the Gigondas, Sablet and Côtes du Rhône appellations. Philippe aims to create wines that are authentic to the region and its terroir, utilizing high density plantings, green harvests and low yields.
The Domaine des Espiers Les Grames Gigondas is a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah, named after the lieu-dit (Les Grames) where the grapes are grown on clay-limestone soil. The grapes are fermented whole-cluster with native yeasts in stainless steel, then aged for 6 months in 600-litre barrels and bottled unfiltered. In the glass, Les Grames is a superb Gigondas, showcasing a complex mix of red fruit and savoury undertones balanced by a full body and soft tannins that allow the interplay of flavours to lead into a delectable finish.

4 Stars drinkrhone.com (2017 Vintage)
"The nose has a thick aroma of raspberry fruit, carries a creamy sweetness. The palate holds some stylish red-fruited content, with ripe tannins entered within, finishing roundly. There’s a little welcome spark in it that keeps it mobile. The aftertaste has an ash tang, a floating clarity which works well."
