A silky and superb Rhone Red made by the famous Sabon family. This classic Grenache-led offering has a perfect balance of vibrant fruit and satisfying full-body. The Janasse label has an impeccable reputation for quality, and this favourite red is both classic and classy. Delicious stuff to drink now or hold a while.
This impeccably run estate, in the capable hands of Christophe Sabon, his sister Isabelle, and their father, is one of the superstars of the southern Rhone Valley. Over the last 12-15 years, the quality of the wines has gone from strength to strength, with brilliant wines being produced in all price categories. They make sumptuous, complex, world-class red, white and rose Cotes du Rhones, and year-in and year-out, their Chateauneuf du Papes are among the top three or four wines of the vintage.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Attractive black plum in colour. The nose offers gobs of jammy black fruits intermixed with a delicious spiciness. The body is equally full, vibrant and concentrated. A well structured, well made wine all round."

91/100 Joe Czerwinski , Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate (2017 Vintage)
"Bottled just a week before my visit, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone contains just 40% Grenache. There's 20% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, with the balance a mix of Carignan and Cinsault. Raised exclusively in concrete vats and foudres, it's a juicy, mouthwatering mixed bowl of blueberries and cherries that should please most palates. Medium to full-bodied, it features a plump, appealing texture and silky tannins. Despite pumping up the blend with other varieties, the shortage of Grenache this year means that production was down by 20%. It should still be a relative bargain."
