Released a year later than other producers, this Chateauneuf is extreme value. Charvin has no special selection or top tier wine, so this legend is the full heart and soul of his best fruit and winemaking. Charvin is a master of traditional Rhone technique, with whole bunch fermentation in concrete tanks retaining beautiful flavour definition. Despite great vineyards in the heart of Chateauneuf, old vines and low yields, Charvin's traditionalism prevents him charging nearly the price of his neighbours for wines of far superior quality, character and finesse.

96/100 James Suckling (2015 Vintage)
"Astounding purity and depth. This wine emanates old vine concentration with deep raspberry and red plums, spicy complexity and a sappy, bracken-like edge. Powerful and elegant tannins, reminiscent of great Barolo! Drink from 2023."

94-96/100 Josh Raynolds, Vinous (2015 Vintage)
"Lurid ruby-red. Sexy, highly perfumed raspberry, boysenberry and floral pastille scents are complemented by hints of musky rhubarb and Asian spices. Palate-staining sweet red and blue fruit and spicecake flavours show power as well as superb vivacity thanks to a spine of juicy acidity. The floral quality comes back emphatically on a strikingly long, sappy finish shaped by smooth, slow-mounting tannins. This might be the finest wine to emerge from this estate that I have ever tasted, and I've had some pretty amazing ones over the years."

95/100 Wine Cellar Insider (2015 Vintage)
"Showing a good depth of colour, with loads of juicy, fleshy, black cherries, plums, thyme, cracked pepper and herbs. The wine balances between perfectly, being full bodied and elegant, with a soft, silky, spicy, kirsch packed finish."

93/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2015 Vintage)
"This tradition-minded producer has turned out a fine 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape. It's entirely whole cluster and 85% Grenache and sees only concrete for its vinification and élevage. The result is perfumed and floral, with stone fruit and cherries demonstrating the ripeness of the fruit. Yet it's also firmly tannic, suggesting some time in the cellar prior to prime-time drinking. This is a really fine effort."

18/20 Jancis Robinson (2015 Vintage)
"Tasted blind. Bright crimson. Rich and racy with real depth of flavour. Masses of fine tannins and really rather majestic. Hint of ginger syrup. Grown-up wine. Long. Drink 2024 – 2038."
