As we keep saying, we in Canterbury are blessed to be part of such a great wine producing area that is the Waipara sub-region. The Deliverance Pinot Noir from the Muddy Water team offers up plenty of juicy red fruits and great drinking pleasure.

Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Light cherry red in colour with a full and expressive nose of baking spices, cloves and cinnamon, supported by red plum and berries. The palate is ripe and long with red fruits and beautiful fine grained tannins."

Reviews for previous vintages below…

4 Stars Michael Cooper (2020 Vintage)
"Offering fine value, the 2020 vintage was fermented with indigenous yeasts and French oak-aged for seven months. Drinking well in its youth, it is a bright ruby, floral, graceful red, full-bodied, with ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, gentle tannins, and very good depth and harmony. (From Muddy Water, owned by Greystone.)"

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Attractively fruited and elegantly complex, the wine shows dark cherry, anise, toasted nut and subtle game characters on the nose, followed by a beautifully rounded palate that's supple and fleshy. It's sweetly fruited and finely textured with lovely savoury undertones, making it splendidly appealing. At its best: now to 2023."

90/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, August 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Fresh, vibrant entry-level pinot noir with a mix of dark berry, raspberry, floral and fresh herb fruit flavours. High-energy wine with bright, youthful flavours. A stylish wine with character. Offers good value at this price."

Greystone Wines is a family-owned vineyard located in the Waipara wine region in Canterbury, New Zealand. Since its establishment, the vineyard has quickly gained a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in the region, particularly their award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The vineyard is situated on the slopes of the Teviotdale Hills, which provide an ideal microclimate for growing grapes. The soils are rich in limestone, which gives the wines a unique mineral character. Greystone Wines is committed to sustainable viticulture practices, and they use a range of organic and biodynamic methods to manage their vineyards. They also have a strong focus on low-intervention winemaking, which allows the grapes to express their natural terroir.

The winery produces a range of wines, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. As mentioned, all of the wines are made using traditional methods, with a focus on minimal intervention and maximum expression of the vineyard's unique terroir.

One of the standout wines from Greystone Wines is their Pinot Noir. Past recognition includes being judged Best International Pinot Noir by Decanter Magazine, with its complex nose of dark fruit, spice, and earthy undertones and a palate that is rich and full-bodied. The Chardonnay is another standout, with a beautiful balance of fruit and acidity, and a long, elegant finish.

Visitors to the vineyard can enjoy tastings and tours, and there is also a restaurant on site that serves locally sourced, seasonal food. The vineyard's stunning location, coupled with their commitment to sustainability and low-intervention winemaking, makes Greystone Wines a must-visit destination for wine lovers visiting the Waipara region.
