Gold Medal – Royal Queensland Wine Show
92/100 James Halliday

Delicious Chardonnay from one of Australia's finest Chardonnay regions, Victoria's Yarra Valley. The Villages comes from several vineyards within the Yarra and is a juicy fruit and mineral driven style. A touch of nutty cream rounds out the finish of this gently textured and very drinkable Chardonnay.

Winery Notes (2014 Vintage)
"The idea of a Villages blend is to create charming and inspiring wine from different villages within a region. This is from Dixons Creek, Tarrawarra and Woori Yallock. Vineyards include our Estate sections A7, B2, B4 and D4. D4 is a French clone vineyard (Bernard 96 and 76). Viggers and The Abbey at Tarrawarra are simply terrific Chardonnay vineyards and Lusatia Park at Woori Yallock is always steely, chilled and superfine. A low cropping warmer season with a gentle balance of flavour, texture and acidity. Quite fine and composed considering the relatively warm February.
Light straw with a green edge. Fine Chardonnay with citrus florals, hazelnut, white flowers, nervy. Gently textural, savoury, drying phenolics, touch of brioche, delicious.

Grapes are hand picked, whole bunch crushed, pressed and allowed to settle overnight. Turbid juice is then racked to French oak casks. Natural and full malolactic fermentation. Lees are stirred in late autumn and a little in winter and then left to rest until the finishing stages."

91/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, February 2016 (2014 Vintage)
"Wild fermented in old French oak. It’s a mouthwatering style. Yellow stone fruits, crisp apples, perhaps some pineapple, definitely some lactose and honeysuckle notes. It presents an array of flavours but keeps its light-to-medium weight, highly drinkable style throughout. Highly appealing. Drink: 2016 – 2020."
