We reckon d'Arenberg are not only the masters of great wine names, but of having some of the best value/quality around. There are no shortcuts taken in the production of any of the wines – low yields, foot trodden, basket pressed all make for seriously good wines.

We don't sell as much South Australian Cabernet as Shiraz, but when you come across a wine like this, we should. This wine offers amazing value. It is dark, dense, savoury, with earthy autumnal fruit flavours; olives, dried herb, currants as well as cedary spice notes. Aged in older American oak. This is a very 'solid' wine.

Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"This vineyard was planted in the 19th century, and received its nickname as it was the first in the region to be trained above knee height. Over the past four decades, Cabernet Sauvignon from the High Trellis vineyard has been released under the d'Arenberg label to consistent critical acclaim, and won the coveted Jimmy Watson trophy at the 1969 Melbourne Wine Show.

This wine has a pretty nose, with lifted cassis and blueberry aromas. The palate is medium bodied and fresh, showing mulberry, black cherry and sage. There's nice fruit intensity, with vibrant acidity and plenty of spice. The finish is long and mouth-watering."

Reviews for the 2015 vintage below…

94/100 Patrick Eckel, (2015 Vintage)
"Every time I look at a new release of this wine Ii sound like a broken record. It is consistently in ‘back up the truck’ territory. It is made even better by the fact d’Arenberg have already done the cellaring for you over the last 2 years!

A deep red in the glass, the nose is dripping with blackberry and graphite with flecks of tomato leaf and gentle spice. The palate has impact of black fruits with tannins and acid giving a canvas for cedar oak and the subtle interjection of brown spice to have show themselves. The finish has a cigar box and bitter dark chocolate edge to driving blackberry fruit. It’s hard for this wine not to impress."
