Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"A classic Clearview Estate Reserve Chardonnay of power & sophistication. Stylish with power & complexity, mealy with stonefruit, ripe tropical flavours & substantial body."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"This is a magnificent offering, the complex bouquet shows golden peach, rockmelon, vanillin oak and brioche characters, leading to a superbly concentrated palate that displays outstanding depth and power, while remaining graceful and harmonious. It’s multi-layered and hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2026."
94/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, September 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"An elegant and lively example of this classic wine with grapefruit, citrus, oyster shell, mineral, struck flint and subtle brioche and bran biscuit flavours. A high-energy chardonnay with a mouth-watering backbone of fruity acidity."

Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2018 (2017 Vintage)
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"For his premium Chardonnay label, winemaker Tim Turvey aims for a 'big, grunty, upfront' style and hits the target with ease. It's typically a hedonist's delight – an arrestingly bold, intense, savoury, mealy, complex wine with layers of flavour. The 2017 vintage was hand-picked from vines up to 30 years old at Te Awanga, fermented and matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (42 per cent new), and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Bright, light lemon/green, it is fragrant and full-bodied,with deep, peachy, toasty flavours, showing notable vigour and complexity, invigorating acidity, excellent harmony and a powerful finish. Coupling a sense of youthful drive with lots of drink-young appeal, it should break into full stride from 2020 onwards."
95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Very distinctive, expressive and forward bouquet with a cashew nut toasty oak and vanilla scented drive. Roasted stone fruits and baked tree fruits, complex and inviting. Full-bodied, rich and equally distinctive on the palate. Flavours reflect the nose with vanilla cream and baked custard, wood spices and a toasty wood smoke layer. Fine wood tannins, plenty of acidity, great balance and length. Drink now and through 2026."
5 Stars & 19.0-/20 (95) Raymond Chan, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is soft and harmoniously presented with elegant and fragrant aromas of ripe white and yellow stonefruits along with a fine thread of creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, nuances of gunflint reductive complexities, all entwined with butterscotch suggestions. This has aromatic finesse. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly full with lush, plush and harmonious fruit flavours of yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits and citrus fruits, along with a soft layer of creamy barrel-ferment with subtle toasty oak notes and nuances of flint and buttery MLF. The flavours and integrated and balanced and the mouthfeel is smooth with fine acidity lending poise and energy. The wine carries to a very long and sustained finish. This is a beautifully full and rich, plush Chardonnay with harmoniously integrated flavours of tropical fruit, creamy and nutty oak with subtle butteriness on a smooth palate. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 5+ years. Mendoza clone fruit from the ‘Main’ and ‘East’ blocks, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 44% new French oak with fortnightly batonnage and 100% MLF.”
