A classic New Zealand Chardonnay done just the way you like it…

Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Picked from our 30 year old vines and some of the newer plantings from our Te Awanga vineyards our iconic New Zealand chardonnay has built a golden pedigree over the last 25 years and showcases our unique terroir to its fullest extent.

Hand picked then whole bunch pressed, the free run juice was fermented mainly in new French oak, with the rest in one year and older French oak barriques. Some indigenous yeast ferments were allowed to run up to 30º C giving texture and roundness while the rest fermented cool (12-15º C) to maintain the classic Clearview character. The wine matured in the same barriques until racking in June 2017. Vibrant powerful fruit & oak characters in its youth develop into more subtle toast & cream notes as the wine matures over several years."

5 Stars & 96/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2017 Vintage)
"Big, rich and creamy chardonnay with peach, tree fruits, oyster shell plus a hint of butter and hazelnut and spicy oak flavours. A complex wine, with impressive purity and energy. Taut and edgy. Drink 2018 – 2024."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"For his premium Chardonnay label, winemaker Tim Turvey aims for a 'big, grunty, upfront' style and hits the target with ease. It's typically a hedonist's delight – an arrestingly bold, intense, savoury, mealy, complex wine with layers of flavour. The 2017 vintage was hand-picked from vines up to 30 years old at Te Awanga, fermented and matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (42 per cent new), and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Bright, light lemon/green, it is fragrant and full-bodied,with deep, peachy, toasty flavours, showing notable vigour and complexity, invigorating acidity, excellent harmony and a powerful finish. Coupling a sense of youthful drive with lots of drink-young appeal, it should break into full stride from 2020 onwards."

5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"The bouquet is stunning and instantly appealing, showing golden peach, mango, vanilla and cedar characters with nuances of lemon peel and brioche. The palate is delectably expressed, displaying excellent mid palate weight and fleshy mouthfeel, brilliantly supported by creamy texture and seamlessly integrated acidity. A hugely appealing chardonnay with power and graceful complexity. At its best: now to 2022."

5 Stars & 19.0-/20 Raymond Chan, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is soft and harmoniously presented with elegant and fragrant aromas of ripe white and yellow stonefruits along with a fine thread of creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, nuances of gunflint reductive complexities, all entwined with butterscotch suggestions. This has aromatic finesse. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly full with lush, plush and harmonious fruit flavours of yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits and citrus fruits, along with a soft layer of creamy barrel-ferment with subtle toasty oak notes and nuances of flint and buttery MLF. The flavours and integrated and balanced and the mouthfeel is smooth with fine acidity lending poise and energy. The wine carries to a very long and sustained finish. This is a beautifully full and rich, plush Chardonnay with harmoniously integrated flavours of tropical fruit, creamy and nutty oak with subtle butteriness on a smooth palate. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 5+ years. Mendoza clone fruit from the ‘Main’ and ‘East’ blocks, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 44% new French oak with fortnightly batonnage and 100% MLF.”
