50% Syrah, 30% Grenache & 20% Mourvedre
Château de La Negly is situated on the prime chalky terroir of La Clape in the Languedoc, in sight of the Mediterrnean, whose cooling breezes moderate the maturation. Aromas of blackberry and cassis with hints of fruit skin on the palate.
"Château de la Négly may be the Languedoc-Roussillon's finest estate. The brilliant oenologist Claude Gros oversees the winemaking, and everything is done with incredible attention to detail, aiming for world class wines of great individuality and quality."
95/100 Jeb Dunnuck, August 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"The brilliant 2017 Coteaux Du Languedoc La Clape Falaise checks in as 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 20% Mourvèdre that was all destemmed and aged 16 months in a mix of foudre and demi-muids. It’s a ripe, sexy, full-bodied beauty that’s loaded with notions of blueberries, raspberries, violets, ground pepper, and graphite-like aromas and flavours. Lovers of powerful, character-filled, balanced wines will love this. Drink it any time over the coming 7-8 years."
92/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, May 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"A solid introduction to the Negly lineup, the 2017 La Clape la Falaise is a full-bodied but admirably focused wine, with robust black cherry and plum flavours complemented by bright acids and a gentle touch of oak. It's 50% Syrah (aged in 300-liter barrels) and the rest equal proportions of Grenache and Mourvèdre (aged in tank). The tannins are ripe and plush, giving this wine a broad, supple feel in the mouth, yet the wine lingers elegantly on the finish."
