Chasing Harvest was created by husband and wife, Michael Kush and Jennifer Kingen Kush from Chicago.
What an interesting story this wine tells, with connections all around the world. Hailing from Chicago, Mike's passion for wine and winemaking had to take him to other places and he and his wife Jennifer have been travelling the world making wines in many far flung locations. They have settled on creating their own label in the Douro Valley, Portugal and Central Otago, New Zealand. It may be that this international approach has enabled them to produce styles of wine that are different to the usual local versions.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Sourced from a single vineyard located in the heart of the Cromwell Basin of Central Otago. Hand harvested and ripe clusters were sorted in the winery, destemmed and crushed the fruit was left to macerate on the skins overnight. Gently pressed and after cold-settling, the wine was racked to very old neutral french oak barrels. Fermented long and cool, the wine was left with a very minimal amount of residual sugar to balance with the acidity. The wine remained on its lees over the course of the winter before being bottled in the spring."
*Note this wine is under screwcap rather than cork as pictured
