Chasing Harvest was created by husband and wife, Michael Kush and Jennifer Kingen Kush from Chicago.
What an interesting story this wine tells, with connections all around the world. Hailing from Chicago, Mike's passion for wine and winemaking had to take him to other places and he and his wife Jennifer have been travelling the world making wines in many far flung locations. They have settled on creating their own label in the Douro Valley, Portugal and Central Otago, New Zealand. It may be that this international approach has enabled them to produce styles of wine that are different to the usual local versions.
Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Portugal's Douro river winds past mountains cut into vineyard terraces. The Port wine industry was born here centries ago, but today a new generation crafts quality dry wines from this epic location.
Aged in barrel for 23 months, this old vines field blend wine of unique douro varietals offers brooding dark fruit and berry aromas with spice, dried flowers, minerality and a richness on the palate that finsihes with fine tannins."
Reviews for the 2018 vintage below…
Cameron Douglas MS, March 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Takes a few minutes for the wine to open up in the glass, but when it does it reveals aromas an flavours of dark baking spices and dark berries, an abundance of vanilla and clove, dark plum and savoury earthy flavours. Firm texture on the palate with gravelly tannins, wood and medium+ acidity. Plum and dark cherry, some black currant, bacon and baking spices return. Balanced and well made, ready to enjoy from today and through 2022."
