Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"I can tell you this. It is the best Boom Boom! thus far. Complexity, tannins inferior to none. Blackberry, boysenberry, dry-hung meat, white pepper, savoury herbs, crushed granite. Need I say more? I think not!"

Yvonne Lorkin, January 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Made in mighty Mattawa city, Washington, this is a syrah that’ll definitely appeal to those who love a hefty lick of liquorice in their reds. Loaded with buckets of spice which cuddles up to dark berries and soft cocoa notes. Explosive?  I’d say it’s more touchy-feely, but darn tasty nonetheless."

4 Stars Michael Cooper, noted.co.nz, May 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Less overtly spicy than many New Zealand syrahs, this attractive red from the Pacific Northwest is fragrant and full-bodied. It has generous, plummy, slightly spicy and nutty flavours, showing good complexity and harmony."

90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, February 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Attractive bouquet of pepper-spiced dark berries, toasty wood and dark spices – clove and baked vanilla. Ripe, fruity and dry on the palate with flavours of sweet dark berries, a touch of brown sugar, soft pepper spice and toasted wood. Abundant yet easy to assimilate tannins, medium acidity, balanced, well made and ready to drink. Loads of fun – enjoy from now and through 2024."

Paul Tutor MW, noted.co.nz, May 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Washington State, in America’s Pacific northwest, made its reputation with generous, ripe, berry-fruited syrah, of which this is a perfect example. Dark-berry and chocolate flavours, no obvious oak or glaring acidity, with rounded tannins on the finish. Not a blockbuster of a wine, but a good medium-weight intro to Washington at a really sharp price."

88/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, June 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"It’s nice and ripe. It’s listed at 13.5% alcohol but it comes across as sweeter and bolder than those numbers might imply. Blueberry and blackberry with sweet black jelly bean and roasted spice notes. It’s at the bold end of what the word ‘syrah’ usually implies, though you wouldn’t say that it’s taking the piss: it does nod in the direction of savouriness and/or meatiness. It’s a nice wine. A good style of wine. It drinks well. And the price is pretty smart too. "

4 Stars & 17.5+/20 Raymond Chan, December 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues. The nose is full and well-packed with concentrated aromas of ripe blackberry fruit harmoniously layered with notes of earth and minerals, along with herbs and subtle whole bunch stalk elements, unfolding dark raspberries and liquorice notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate has deep and concentrated flavours of ripe blackberries with dark herbs, aniseed, earth and mineral notes, along with black pepper and spices. The flavours are up-front and show a complexing savouriness, and are enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and underlined by fine, grainy tannin extraction. The grip carries the wine lingering, nuanced finish of blackberries, chocolate and herbs. This is an up-=front Syrah with flavours of blackberries, earth, herbs and minerals, with black pepper, liquorice and spices on a grainy-textured, brisk palate. Serve with grilled and roasted red meats and casseroles over the next 4-5 years. A blend of 96% Syrah, 3% Viognier and 1% Grenache from 5 sites, co-fermented with 30% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months in seasoned oak."
