Following on from the highly reviewed, 95 points all round rip-roaring 2020 vintage is Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2021. A low yielding and early harvest has resulted in a rich style with great concentration of fruit that's cleaned up impresssively by juicy acidity and refreshing minerality, finishing long and tantalising.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Named after the majestic Catalina flying boats that once flew across the vast Marlborough Sounds, Catalina Sounds produces wines that are unique with minimum intervention and are true to their vineyard sites while capturing the best of the region.
The wine has subtle alpine herb notes, overlayed with ripe citrus fruit and touches of minerality. The palate is creamy initially, with focussed mid-palate
fruit weight and texture. The naturally lower acidity from the 2021 vintage supports expressive and balanced flavours through to a refreshing and lasting finish. Restrained initially, the wine will open up with time in the glass – discover more depth and interest with each sip."
