The return of this very popular label, exclusive to Vino Fino in the South Island.
McLaren Vale is recognised world-wide for the quality of its Shiraz wines due to the Mediterranean climate and ancient soils. This Native Goose Shiraz from one of the finest quality vintages is a classic example of this reputation. Produced from 3 vineyards aged from 45-70 years old, it shows mature flavours that can only come from such old vines, and yet reflects an elegance which is beguilingly attractive.
Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Concentrated aromas of licorice and brambly black fruits, poached plum and mocha, intertwined with spice notes of anise and cloves. A richly textured wine which is truly mouth-filling with juicy layers of wild berries, spice, plum and dark chocolate. This persists with a very long lasting velvety smooth finish capped by structured, soft tannins and beautifully integrated oak. French 36%, American 64% – 20% new; 80% 2-6 years old."
94/100 James Halliday's Wine Companion (2018 Vintage)
"Sourced from three vineyards 45-70yo, crushed separately, 8 days on skins in upright static fermenters, twice daily pumpovers, run off skins at 2 degrees baume. It’s medium-bodied, reflecting the freshness of the fruit and its pliable texture. Oak and tannins both do what is expected of them."
