Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Grandma’s buttercream cake with an upgrade. Our Buttercream Chardonnay displays a rich creamy texture of tropical fruit, with vanilla notes and a kiss of sweetness on the palate. Smooth and creamy with hints of vanilla and succulent pear.
After sitting peacefully in stainless steel tanks, our Chardonnay undergoes secondary malolactic fermentation, which really brings out the buttercream we all know and love. Finally, we allowing this Chardonnay to rest in oak barrels, to add complexity and nuance. It’s like these grapes wanted to be there all along.
Grandma loved to cook for the family, but baking was her speciality. Everyone loved her delicious buttercream cake. When making our flagship wine, we set out to create the perfect wine pairing to Grandma’s famous recipe. We knew it needed to be buttery and creamy, with a zing of freshness, a tinge of sweetness, and a hint of vanilla. We like to think Grandma would be proud.
We recommend pairing your Buttercream Chardonnay with a seafood dish, a cheese board with creamy Brie especially, or your favourite dessert. It is no surprise Buttercream is a fan favourite!"
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Rich and opulent, the wine shows grilled peach, mango, French vanilla and roasted hazelnut aromas. The palate delivers excellent weight and intensity, wonderfully framed by creamy texture and mellow acidity, making it plush and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2026."
91/100 Cameron Douglas MS, August 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"A bouquet of ripe stone fruits and whipped cream, there’s a layer of spice and nut, some oak and woodiness then custard with a generous lift of alcohol. Weighty and creamy textured as the wine touches the palate. Flavours of Brazil-nut and cream, a light cheesy lactic quality then stone fruits, baked apple and spice. Medium+ acidity and delicious core of fruit and spice, a wine that finishes dry and lengthy. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2028+."
4 Stars & 17.5+/20 (89) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, September 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Bright, even, pale yellow gold. The nose is fresh and unfolding aromas of pineapple, pear, custard and butterscotch. Full-bodied, aromas of pineapple, melon and ripe pear melded with butterscotch and custard. The creamy mouthfeel is packed with rich buttery details, supported by lively acidity. This heavyweight Chardonnay is appealing to buttery Chardonnay drinkers. Match with fried chicken and Macaroni and cheese over the next 3 years. Fermented in stainless steel to 14.1% alc, underwent MLF. Vegan friendly."
