Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"2016 was another ideal season to make a 'Sun-Dried' Malbec. 'Sun-Dried' wines have been made since the 5th century BC – 'Amarone' wines from northern Italy being the most famous.  Intensely dark, this ‘Sun-Dried’ Malbec shouts dried herbs, dark ripe plum, liquorice, violets and succulent oak. This wine has an enticing mouthfeel due to the weight and fullness on the mid palate. The 2016 vintage follows its illustrious predecessors with aplomb. Once again Malbec on steroids comes to mind. This wine is generous in all departments, the 2016 ‘Sun-Dried’ Malbec will compliment most red meats."

5 Stars & 18.5/20 Raymond Chan, September 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the edge, youthful in appearance. This ha a firm and well-concentrated nose with rich and ripe fruit aromas of dark-red and black berried fruits along with boysenberry notes, subtle spice and fruit-cake elements, a suggestion of raisins and sweet oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and lusciously succulent fruit flavours of dark-red and black plum fruit with blackberries and boysenberries, with raisin nuances. The palate unfolds spice notes, fruit-cake and a layering of sweet oak. The mouthfeel is fulsome with mouthfilling flavours and fine tannin extraction supporting the fruit and providing a degree of robustness. The palate has presence and body and the flavours carry to a succulent and vibrantly sweet finish with a little grip. This is a fulsome, rich and lusciously ripe Malbec with dark berry and plum flavours with boysenberries, spices and sweet oak, and good structure. Serve with game meat dishes over the next 6-8+ years. Fruit from the ‘Tuki Tuki’ and ‘Ohiti’ vineyards, hand-picked and sun-dried in trays in a shade house, then fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 1 y.o. oak barrels."

92/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and engaging, the bouquet shows dark fruit, cured meat, clove, black olive and toasted nut characters. The palate is ripe and beautifully weighted, displaying lovely density and smooth texture, brilliantly structured by fine, chalky tannins. The wine is sturdy and generous, ideally suited to partner rich meat dishes. At its best: now to 2021."
