Named after the Ingrid Bergman roses in the estate garden, the grapes are hand-picked, and fermented and matured on its yeast lees in seasoned French and American oak casks. This has a definite golden colour with flavours of ripe citrus and stone fruits, a hint of smokiness, nutty oak and a touch of flint giving a pleasing spine to the creamy finish.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"The 2020 Bergman Chardonnay has been barrel fermented with indigenous yeast. There is peach, biscuit, toast, oak and subtle vanilla. A small portion under went malolactic fermentation. It is vibrant and fruit driven, hence it is an excellent food wine.
All the grapes for the Bergman Chardonnay are estate grown. They were harvested from Ohiti Estate and the winery block. The Bergman Chardonnay takes its name from the Ingrid Bergman roses planted at the winery."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and generously expressed, the wine shows apricot, mango, vanillin oak and subtle butterscotch notes on the noses, leading to a wonderfully rounded palate that's fleshy and creamy. It's expansive and flowing nicely to a lengthy silky finish. At its best: now to 2023."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Named after the Ingrid Bergman Rosés in the estate garden, this wine is grown alongside the winery at Meeanee, in Hawke's Bay. The 2019 vintage was almost entirely fermented and matured for nine months in American and French oak barrels (10 per cent new). Bright, light lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with strong, ripe, peachy, slightly toasty and creamy flavours, showing good vigour and concentration, and a well-rounded finish. Drink now to 2022. Fine value."
5 Stars & 18.5/20 Candice Chow for Raymond Chan Reviews, August 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Bright, medium straw-yellow, even throughout. The nose has pleasant intensity aromas of lemon, stonefruit, rockmelon, enriched by toasty barrels element, baking spices, brioche and a buttery undertone. Full-bodied, flavours of lemon, peach and rockmelon have the intensity to complement the barrel spices and creamy lees details, entwined with brioche, baking spice and butteriness. The fruit is fresh and vibrantly dancing on the palate, without being overly fruity; integrated with the oak and MLF detail harmoniously, contributed to weight and texture. This is a well-balanced Chardonnay with flavours of stonefruit and rockmelon on a rounded palate with MLF and barrels details. Match with roasted chicken and baked camembert over the next 4-6 years. Fermented in French and American oak to 13.5% alc. Aged on lees, partial MLF, total time in oak was 9 months, small portion of new oak."
