Named after the Ingrid Bergman roses in the estate garden, the grapes are hand-picked, and fermented and matured on its yeast lees in seasoned French and American oak casks. This has a definite golden colour. Flavours are of citrus fruits, especially ripe grapefruit along with a slight smokiness and flinty characters and a touch of creaminess.

Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"The 'Ingrid Bergman' rose is a magnificent red, and the Chardonnay takes its name from this rose, which is planted adjacent the winery and vineyard. The 2016 ‘Bergman’ Chardonnay has a flinty bouquet with stone-fruit, fresh melon, toast and subtle oak. Nine months of lees stirring has generated a broad mid palate with length. Equally the wild fermentation has brought another dimension into the flavour profile. Multifaceted, complex and a delight – do enjoy"

4 Stars Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Inviting aromas of ripe stone fruit, citrus, nougat and almond lead to a succulent palate that is beautifully weighted and generously flavoured. The wine displays attractive fruit intensity and creamy texture, while remaining elegant and nicely structured, finishing long and silky-smooth. At its best: now to 2019."

4 Stars & 18.0-/20 Raymond Chan, September 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright yellow colour with pale golden hue and some depth, lighter edged. The nose is fresh with good depth of yellow stonefruit and citrus fruit aromas entwined with creamy barrel-ferment, and nutty lees and oak notes, unveiling a little lemon-curd MLF. Medium-fill bodied, the palate has elegantly concentrated flavours of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits melded with nutty lees and oak elements with soft, creamy barrel-ferment textures. The mouthfeel is smooth in flow with light, lacy acidity providing freshness and energy. The wine unfolds a little lemon-curd MLF as it carries to a fine, elegant, lingering finish. This is a fresh, but elegantly concentrated Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus fruit flavours melded with nutty lees and oak notes and a creamy flow. Serve with poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Ohiti Estate; and ‘Home Block’, the wine barrel-fermented partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.0$ alc., the wine aged 9 months on lees in predominantly French oak with some American oak, and a small portion new, undergoing partial MLF."
