Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Grown in our Church Road vineyard in Waipara, this Gewurztraminer has been made from the fruit off our youngest vines The hand-harvested grapes were foot-stomped in the traditional manner then pressed and the juice fermented slowly in seasoned barrels to produce a delicious wine bursting with the distinctive aromas of lychees, rose petal and subtle spices. These flavours flow through into the palate in a wonderful blend with an off-dry finish. This Gewurztraminer is great with many spicy and flavourful foods including Thai and most asian cuisine dishes using lemongrass, coriander, chilli and lime to name a few."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Highly perfumed, the 2019 vintage of this North Canterbury wine is a fresh, weighty, youthful wine, tank-fermented and briefly lees-aged. Made in a dryish style, it has concentrated, ripe peach, lychee and spice flavours, a hint of ginger, a touch of complexity, and lovely depth and harmony. Best drinking mid-2021+."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Varietally pure and gorgeously perfumed, the wine shows lychee, pineapple, Turkish Delight and subtle spice notes on the nose. It's equally attractive on the palate, offering succulent fruit intensity combined with silky mouthfeel, leading to a persistent flavoursome finish. At its best: now to 2023."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Fragrant, enticing, floral and perfumed with aromas of roses and apple blossoms, white fleshed fruits of pears, apple, fresh lychee and sweet lavender. Overall soft, fruity, fleshy and plush. On the palate – a core of fruit leads with an off-dry style revealed; contrasting acidity, texture and spices with some warming alcohol. A delicious wine full of spice, fruit, texture and charm finishing with a light sweet white rose taste. Balanced and well made. Ready. Best enjoyed upon release and through 2022+."
