Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Fruit aromas of yellow stone fruit with additional tropical notes of pineapple and banana. There is also a soft vanilla creaminess on the nose. Broad and soft with generous concentration and a smooth easy finish.
The fruit for this wine is a blend of Mendoza, Clone 15 and Clone 95, which was grown in the sandy silt soils of the lower terrace at Askerne Vineyard.
The wine was fermented and aged for 10 months in predominantly French oak barrels. There was a mixture of inoculated and wild yeast.
Lees stirring was undertaken to naturally preserve and add structure to this wine."
Reviews for the 2019 vintage below…
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Priced right, the 2019 vintage was estate-grown and fermented and matured for 10 months in oak barrels (20 per cent new). Bright, light yellow/green, it is full-bodied and sweet-fruited, with generous, ripe stone-fruit flavours, oak-derived complexity and a smooth finish. Already highly approachable, it should break into full stride mid-2021+."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"It's delightfully fruited and fragrant on the nose showing golden peach, fig, vanillin oak and subtle spice notes, leading to a beautifully rounded palate that's smooth and creamy. The wine offers lovely fruit intensity together with elegant oak infusion, making it fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2023."
91/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"A lovely bouquet, inviting familiar and fresh with aromas of peaches and oak, vanilla and apple, blond tobacco and raw sugar oak sweetness then a light subtle floral layer and soft stony soil moments. On the palate – weighty creamy texture with a salivating, warm and generous core of fruit and oak flavours, some very fine wood tannins and persistent finish. Flavours reflect the nose; a well made and ready to enjoy from today and through 2024."
