A single vineyard Barolo from the "Grand Cru" of Verduno. Monvigliero faces due south at at an altitude of 250 metres, and lies on white and calcerous clay soils. The result is a harmonious balance of aromatic nuance and rich, textural body, which makes for a Barolo that is delicious in youth but with excellent potential in cellar.

"A powerful, rich red with plum, hazelnut and chocolate aromas and flavors. It’s focused and structured with red fruit, light vanilla and strong tannins. Needs time to soften. Better after 2023."
93/100 Stephen Brook, Decanter UK (2016 Vintage)
"This is the top label of the huge Terre del Barolo cooperative which for some years has made up to seven Barolos from members who adhere to a strict protocol. One of the cooperative's best 2016s was from Monvigliero in Verduno, a site with complex marl soils. The nose, with sumptuous raspberry fruit, is very ripe and oaky without being jammy. The attack is silky, concentrated and elegant, with lifted and pure fruit. It's not a weighty style, but it has persistence and should age well. The Barolo from Rocche di Castiglione is of comparable quality. Drink 2020 – 2038."

"Verduno. Lustrous mid ruby. Perhaps a little more developed than the Ravera of the same vintage on the nose with an impression of richness and pepperiness. Just the beginning of tar. Supple, concentrated red fruit with a layer of super-animating, powdery tannins. Very long and with a full spread on the finish. A richer style of Monvigliero. Drink 2020 – 2030."
