Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Intense rich purple with vibrant magenta hues in the glass. Chocolate, mint, blackcurrant with a hint of oak on the bouquet. Palate is soft and mouthfilling with blackcurrant, mint and French oak on the long finish.
Source from vineyards at opposite ends of McLaren Vale. Our vineyard in Blewitt Springs in the north of the region is planted in sandy soils and gives elegance and length. 22 kilometers to the south on the loam and slate encrusted Sellick Hill sits our second Cabernet vineyard which provides fantastic depth and structure. Basket Pressed the wine was matured in new and seasoned French oak for 12 month, with the final blend selected from the very best barrels just prior to bottling."
94/100 Nicks.com, Aus (2017 Vintage)
"Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Aromas of blackcurrant infused with tobacco are followed by hints of chocolate bullets, vanillin cedar and spicy dried herbs. Rich blackcurrant fruit fills the medium to full bodied palate with elements of liquorice, dark chocolate, cedary tobacco characters and spice ensuing. Smooth mid palate feel with fine grained yet structural tannins. Good length finishing with a long aftertaste. Offers richness and depth at a great price."

Ranked No 2 – McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon – Buy of the Week
"The integrity of the fruit is the first thing you notice about this wine. Focused, intense and pure is the nose. The palate has bright fruit with excellent density and intensity, and I adore the wine’s composure and harmony. The restrained approach to winemaking allows the regional and varietal characters of the wine show through. Outstanding value. Highly recommended."
91/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, January 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Angove put out some ripping wines it has to be said. It has good fruit and a general sturdiness to it. Dust, cloves, boysenberry and blackcurrant flavours, effectively in that order, before herb-flecked tannin sweeps in. Value."
