Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"An aromatic Syrah with aromas of vanilla, black pepper, boysenberry and sweet violet. Sweet spice aromas add complexity. Medium bodied with flavours of cherry and dark berry fruits, black tea and savoury tones. French oak imparts spice and vanilla. Soft supple tannins and a lingering finish make this an excellent food wine.
The vibrant varietal characters of this wine may be enjoyed when the wine is young however some cellaring will result in a more rounded, complex wine. Great with pizza, classic Bolognese, Romano pasta, lamb and Moroccan inspired dishes."

"Sweetly fruited and attractively expressed, the bouquet shows ripe plum, blackberry, game and toasted spice aromas, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that is plump and fleshy. It is smooth and supple, offering delightful drinking. At its best: now to 2021."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"Matured for a year in predominantly French oak barriques, the 2016 vintage was designed as a 'fruit-driven' style. Full-coloured, it is fragrant, mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with generous plum, spice and black-pepper flavours to the fore, well-integrated oak and considerable complexity. Still youthful, it's well worth cellaring to at least 2019+."

"Syrah has been one of the Ham family’s show-off wines pretty much ever since they set up shop in the iron-rich, red gravels of the Bridge Pa Triangle, just a skip and a hop from Hastings city. The Barnstormer has a list of medals and trophies that should justify it being a bit of a snob, however it’s one of the most delicious and approachable styles out there. Perfumed with soft pepper and florals and chock full of cocoa-dusted, dark fruit and a smorgasbord of spice, it’s an elegant yet ultimately sippable syrah."
