70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah, 10% Cariñena
Head just 80 kilometres west of Madrid and you’ll find yourself at the Sierra de Gredos, a stunning mountain range soaring at altitudes of 600 – 1200 meters above sea level. Here, the ‘four monkeys,’ a group of local friends, come together to create this gorgeous Garnacha-based red. 50% whole cluster leaves the wine crunchy and fresh, followed by aging in used barrels for nine months.
Light on its feet, fresh, juicy wild red and blueberries and summer pudding. Enticing, floral aromas lead into a deliciously juicy and effortlessly enjoyable palate.
92/100 Wine Advocate (2018 Vintage)
"The red 2018 GR-10 Tinto contains a little less Cariñena and Syrah (10% and 20%, respectively) and, therefore, a little more Garnacha than the 2017 I tasted next to it. 2018 is a more complete vintage, with perfect ripening of the grapes, better yields and more balance in the wines. The fermentation and élevage were similar, with native yeasts, 90% full clusters and nine months in different sized barrels and a 4,200-liter oak vat. 2018 is clearly a great vintage, very complete, and the wines have more of everything: They are still young but are going to be superb, and you should wait on them while you drink your 2017s. This is like a more complete version of 2016, perhaps a vintage that is going to require more time. This is drinkable, but it's going to get better in bottle. 30,000 bottles produced. It's ironic how in a great year the grapes are perfect, you work less, you get more wine and the result is better!"
