Pioneers of the Awatere sub-region of Marlborough the fruit for this is all from the lower Awatere. Nothing but impressive from the Awatere Valley's oldest winery. “That unique oyster shell minerality, a creamy mouthfeel and an elegant acidity, is a style that has come to characterise Vavasour.” – Stu Marfell, Chief Winemaker
Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"Vibrant and unmistakably Marlborough, this wine opens with green tropical fruit, citrus oil, and hints of fresh herbs, snow peas, and saline minerality. The palate is generous and concentrated, with citrus zest, tropical fruit, and subtle herbal layers. Crisp acidity brings focus to a long, elegant finish."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2025 (2025 Vintage)
"Intensely aromatic and enticing, the bouquet shows passionfruit, feijoa, kaffir lime, and white floral aromas, leading to a wonderfully flavoursome palate that's filled with juicy fruit flavours. Gorgeously expressed and deliciously drinkable. At its best: now to 2029."

Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2024 (2024 Vintage)
"Vibrant, pungent, fruity and ready, a wine that hits all the boxes of freshness and style. A classic expression with myriad tropical and citrus fruit aromas and flavours, passionfruit and gooseberry, lemons and crisp apple. High acidity with a lick of sweetness for balance, but a wine that ultimately finishes dry. Ready to drink now and through end of summer 2026."
92/100 Stephen Wong, The Real Review, November 2024 (2024 Vintage)
"Very spicy, mellow and honeyed nose based around green apple and fennel pollen. Broader, leesy richness. Initially shy, it opens into a zingy and surprisingly elegant wine with citrus, green apple, fresh celery and a sweet floral charm. Layered yet compact on the palate, hinting at minerality and salinity under the fruit. Very young and closed at this stage, it has coiled power in reserve… Very accomplished for a larger production wine, and to be applauded."
Joelle Thomson, drinksbiz Magazine, March/April 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"This Sauvignon Blanc sings of freshness in every sip, thanks to its origins in the cool, wild and windswept Awatere Valley south of Blenheim. Sauvignon Blancs from here tend to be zesty and bold with a dry style. This wine has layered aromas of lemon, crisp red apples and a subtle tropical flavour note. An excellent wine at a super affordable price."
