This Cabernet Sauvignon from Pirramimma exudes McLaren Vale richness and power at every sip. It’s loaded with blackcurrants and violets and lashings of spice and mocha with berries, briar and oak coming through on the long and persistent palate. It’s elegantly structured with the five years on the dial mellowing the tannins beautifully. It certainly is impressive for the price.

"More than 123 years after Alexander Campbell Johnston planted his first small vine cutting, the Johnston family still produce estate grown wines and operate one of Australia's oldest wineries.

The exceptional 2013 vintage conditions guaranteed slow ripening and distinctive varietal character. We selceted the best parcels of fruit from our "Orchard Block" which was planted in 1967 using the famous "Reynell clone" of Cabernet Sauvignon and our 30 year old "Pig and Pony" vineyard. The wine exhibits a bouquet of lifted blackcurrant, violets and mint with bramble notes and hints of cedar oak. With the palate showing intense briary blackberry, red currant and spicy black plum flavours, with hints of quince, red capsicum and Kalamata olive. This powerful yet elegant wine is framed by balanced tannins and subtle oak, finishing with great length."
