Although this is Palllier's second label, it ranks way above that in terms of quality. Its pedigree is second to none. Previous vintages have been awarded 5 Stars, Gold medals and even Champion Pinot Noir at the ANZWA. This brand new release 2016 has already received well deserved 5 Star reviews.

Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"This has a gently full and elegantly voluminous nose with softly packed aromas of ripe dark-red and black berry and cherry fruit, unfolding subtle notes of violet florals and dark herbs from the core. The aromatics are elegant and beautifully ethereal.

Medium-full bodied, the palate is lusciously rich and juicy with sweet flavours of dark-red berry and cherry fruit entwined with subtle nuances of dark herbs, unfolding fragrant violet and dark-red florals providing aromatic lift. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained tannins that provide structure and grip, but enable accessibility, and the acidity is fresh and lacy, lending energy and vitality. The wine flows to a rich and succulent finish of aromatic dark-red fruits with herb nuances. This is a deliciously juicy Pinot Noir with sweet dark-red berry and cherry fruits along with herbal detail and fragrant florals on a fine-grained palate.

Clones 5, 114, 115, 667, 777, Abel and MV6 fruit from the ‘Pinnacles’. ‘East Base’, ‘Palliser/Clouston’ and a small amount from the ‘Collins’ vineyards, indigenous yeast fermented with 5% whole clusters to 14.1% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 24% new 228 L casks."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Beautifully styled and immediately appealing, the inviting bouquet shows dark cherry, mushroom, mixed spice and floral characters with nuances of cedar and vanilla. The palate delivers excellent varietal purity and juicy mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and polished tannins. The wine is brilliantly balanced and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2020."
