Winery notes (2014 Vintage)
"Elegant. Stylish. Not overburdened with sweet fruit or with strong tannins. Quite simply a wine which is enticing, pleasing and flows with grace. The nose is a fascinating balance between typical Pinot fruit notes ( cherry, plum) and typical Pinot savoury notes (degraded vegetation, autumn forest). These are melded perfectly resulting in a melange of subtle but confident aromas.

On the palate the wine is serious but not overwrought. The refreshing mineral notes are in play with the chocolate and cherry. Tannin structure is elegant and fine. The oak handling and fruit ripeness are harmonious and the overall concept of the wine is well bred approachability. The wine is most attractive and eminently drinkable."
92+/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, August 2016 (2014 Vintage)
"Neudorf wines are the shining lights from Nelson, amongst a small coterie, but they’re also some of the best in New Zealand, if you take a straw poll (or in my opinion). Classically styled, happy in their reflection of Nelson’s potential as a grape growing area, and owned by some of the more progressive types in wine.

Spicy, clove-meets-tobacco wood scents meshed to dark cherry and red plum fruit character opens the wine. It sets you up for a pinot noir of depth, fleshy fruitines and yet bones of structure from fine tannin and a wash of glassy acidity. The wine sits mellow and quite flat in the palate, perks up on a mid palate soft-sweetness, finishes dusty and peppery. Roast duck came to mind."
91/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2014 Vintage)
"Quite a complex bouquet of red berry fruits laced with a silty mineral almost stony mineral layer; almost sweet new oak layer with a layer of spice and intensity; overall a complete and generous Pinot Noir bouquet. On the palate - crisp, youthful, fruity, firm and dry; flavours of ripe cherry and cranberry with layers of oak spice, medium tannins and plenty of acidity. Still very youthful with enough poise and tension to make me want to try this wine again in a year. Decant for service now or cellar through 2017 then try again."
91/100 Huon Hooke (2014 Vintage)
"Deepish red colour with a good purple tinge. The aroma is loaded with dark cherry, deep and spicy from a positive oak input. The palate is full and well structured with a good tannin presences and balance. A serious Pinot of good weight and harmony."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2014 Vintage)
"This regional blend can offer fine value. The 2014 vintage was hand-harvested at three Moutere sites (including the Home Block), matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (25 per cent new), and bottled without fining or filtration. Ruby-hued, it is fragrant, with generous, ripe cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, showing good complexity and harmony. Drink now or cellar."
