Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
“The Paper Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc illustrates the diversity of style that can be crafted in Marlborough. Thirty years of growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes, an intimate knowledge of our Estate vineyard sites, combined with our proven passion for crafting food friendly wines have given us the confidence to create an alternative style. This is the result of hand-picked fruit from a single site that was fermented on solids at a warmer temperature in a large oak cuve. The resulting wine has a more subtle fruit expression and greater textural qualities than the classic style.

This release of The Paper Nautilus exhibits subtle aromas of lemon peel, mango and hazelnuts. The palate is full with a rich mid-palate and a dry lingering finish.”
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Supremely elegant and astonishingly refined, the complex bouquet shows lemon peel, dried herb, beeswax and wet limestone characters. The palate is concentrated, focused and linear, and delivers outstanding mid palate weight and fine texture, brilliantly structured by racy acidity. Impeccable poise and harmony, and extremely long on the finish with delicate fruit and savoury notes. At its best: 2018 to 2026."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"Named after a paper-thin shell, the 2016 vintage was estate-grown, hand-picked and fermented in a single, seasoned French oak cuve. Made in a dry style (2 grams/litre of residual sugar), it is mouthfilling, weighty and sweet-fruited, with strong, youthful, ripely herbaceous flavours, showing good complexity, gentle acidity and a persistent, seamless finish. A distinctive, finely poised wine, it's well worth discovering. Best drinking mid-2018+."
94/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2016 Vintage)
"Pure, fresh, vibrant and varietal with aromas of citrus, apple, pear and white pineapple; a softer fresh herb and leesy spice note adding depth and complexity. On the palate – delicious with time in bottle bringing together texture, flavour and synchronicity. Lemon zest, grapefruit, apple and fresh herb return, a light spice note also make a play. Lengthy and detailed finish. Very well-made. Drink now and through 2026."
