Winery notes (2014 Vintage)
"Brilliantly gleaming and ruby-hued, subtle elegance reigns. Hand-harvested and sorted fruit was chilled, de-stemmed and fermented in small wooden cuves made of French Oak. The young wine sat on skins for one lunar cycle before being pressed and put into special 3-year air-dried barriques.
With a lifted ethereal perfume of currants, black forest and thorny rosehips, interwoven with the dried stems of fescue grasses and herbs, including fennel and wildflowers, the richness of ripe plum and dark fruits enhancing the higher notes. Midway through the taste there is a sweet but gripping tannin grain with a limestone streak of minerality."
97/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2014 Vintage)
"Seductive and appealing  bouquet of red rose and the scents of mineral, light red fruits, the oak and related baking spice suggestions show off a youthful yet complex wine; very soft dried spice layer with a light savoury moment. On the palate - a complex meld of dry spice, exotic red fruits, wild red flowers, layers of mineral and wild honey. A truly complex wine build on an understanding of place, time and the vintage. The heart of this wine shows after about 60 seconds after expectorating (most of it) with layers of spice, acidity, flavour and complexity. Fantastic!"
5 Stars & 18.5/20 Raymond Chan, February 2016 (2014 Vintage)
"Light ruby-red colour with some depth, and pale garnet hues on the rim. The nose is full and deep with a concentrated array of savoury dark-red berry fruits melded with layers of dark herbs, undergrowth, red florals and nuances of game, earth and minerals. Medium-full bodied, the palate features mouthfilling and rich flavours of savoury dark red berry fruits entwined with layers of herbs, undergrowth and florals. The mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and fine, grained tannin extraction provides plenty of structure and grip. The wine has richness and textural balance with good linearity that carries the flavours to a crisp, textural, lingering finish of spices and herbs. This is a full, rich, lively and structured Pinot Noir with an array of savoury red fruits, florals, herb and undergrowth flavours. Serve with game meat dishes and casseroles over the next 6+ years. Hand-picked Pinot Noir Pommard clone fruit from the older plantings from ‘Naboth’s Vineyard’ along with clone 777, 667 and 114 fruit from ‘La Pouche’, destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented with whole berries in small cuves to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 28 days on skins and aged 11 months in 10% new French oak barriques."
