Marc Brédif Vouvray is easily our biggest selling Chenin Blanc. This new release 2016 continues the style we are familiar with and adore. It is a wine absolutely suited to summer style foods and really is a 'must have' in the fridge at all times. It is dry, but not bone dry and it is incredibly versatile with food; it absolutely sings with seafood but is also simply delicious on its own. It's so good to drink now but if you can manage to leave it in your cellar it will happily sit there for many years developing further honeyed richness and complexity. So good.
Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"The domaine of Marc Bredif is one of the most famous names in the Loire, renowned for the longevity and quality of his Vouvray. Established in 1893 under the name of Chateau les Roches it wasn't until 1919 when Marc Bredif took over from his uncle, that the name was changed to mark the change of ownership. The ethereal Chenin Blanc from Marc Bredif remains a benchmark for the region; delicious, nervy and vividly sketched when young it morphs into an infinitely complex wine with age taking on characters of dried honey, lanolin and calvados, still with that ceramic-like sheen of minerally acidity.

The wine is a brilliant pale gold. On the nose, there is a fine bouquet full aromas of white flowers and yellow fruit such as pears. One finds citrus notes such as grapefruit. The attack is gentle with a lovely vivacity where one finds agreeable notes of grapefruit on the lingering finish. It is a lovely wine, ripe and refreshing."
Sue Courtney, wineoftheweek.com (2016 Vintage)
"Made from Chenin Blanc, this is straw gold coloured with a fragrant, floral, subtle ginger/pepper scent and a suggestion of mineral salts. The first taste seems quite dry but there's increasing lusciousness from the baked apple and honey flavours with a touch of apricot and some salty, herbal notes in behind. A varietal heralded for its aging capability, drink now or any time over the next 20 years."
