Lisini is one of Montalcino's oldest wine estates. The Clementi family fought alongside the Medicis in their conquest of Montalcino, for which Capt. Silvio Clementi was rewarded with the Pecci palace in Montalcino, as well as buying another propriety in Sant’Angelo in Colle. Today, signor Filippo Paoletti is responsible for making the five traditional wines, using cement and large oak casks. With Lodovico’s Lisini's death in 1950, his daughter Elina took over, believing in the estate’s potential and initiating the very first bottling until her death in 2009. The Lisini were among the founding fathers of the first Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio in 1963; with Elina becoming one of its Presidents. The current generation of Lisini - Carlo, Lorenzo and Lodovica - continue to uphold the family tradition.
93+/100 Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2011 Vintage)
"The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a delightful expression of Sangiovese that does justice to the grape and the unique Montalcino farming environment. This a clean and beautifully polished red wine that reveals very precise tones of wild berry, dried raspberry and blue flower. Spice and freshly tilled earth also appear. The fruit is integrated and bright despite the warm vintage conditions. The finish is long and the tannins are polished and silky. " Drink 2017 - 2028
95/100 Wine Enthusiast (2011 Vintage)
"Intense, lovely aromatics of wild berry, fragrant blue flower, crushed herb and a whiff of tilled soil lead the way. On the powerful palate, youthfully assertive but refined tannins frame layers of crushed black cherry, blackberry, mint and ground pepper while a licorice note closes the lingering finish. Boasting structure and finesse, it shows surprising aging potential for the vintage. Drink 2020–2031."
91/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous (2011 Vintage)
"The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is rich, open-knit and inviting. Sweet tobacco, herbs, licorice, menthol sage and earthy notes meld together as this mid-weight yet enveloping Brunello opens up in the glass. Although the 2011 offers lovely density and textural richness, the flavours are a touch forward for a young wine, while the alcohol is at times pronounced. I would prefer to drink the 2011 sooner rather than later. Lisini gave the 2011 42 months in medium-sized casks. Drink 2017 - 2026."
