5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2015 (2012 Vintage)
"Youthful and beautifully perfumed, this is stylish and delicious. Fabulous aromas of cassis, blueberry, floral and cedar lead to a concentrated palate that offers elegant opulence and plenty of attractive flavours. It is weighty, silky and lingering. At its best: now to 2020."
Sue Courtney, wineoftheweek.com, May 2017 (2012 Vintage)
"Inky dark red with ripe, juicy, red and black berries and hints of chocolate filling the bouquet. Fine silky tannins are an attractive feature with touches of vanilla, spice, rosewood and cedar and a long, fine elegant finish with lingering nuances of redcurrant jelly. Very smart indeed."
Yvonne Lorkin, March 2018 (2012 Vintage)
"Sonoma County should be called Cabernet County in my eyes, since it insists on churning out exceptionally earthy, concentrated cabernet like this. Kendall-Jackson are one of the most highly respected producers across the entire California coast and they have a signature cocoa, vanilla, smoky tone to their reds which work stunningly well with the powdery, finely grained tannins on the finish. It’s ripe, fleshy and beautifully integrated – meaning it won’t ride roughshod across your tastebuds. Serve with classic tomato-soaked meatballs."
4 Stars & 17.5/20 Raymond Chan, November 2014 (2012 Vintage)
"92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Merlot from Sonoma County with 9% from Mendocino, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months in French and American oak. Very dark, deep, black-red colour. The nose is fresh with softly concentrated, aromatically pure blackcurrant fruit aromas with blackcurrant leaf and cassis elements, the fruit classically varietal, with cooler-spectrum suggestions. Oaking is very sensitive allowing the fruit to be prominent. Medium-full bodied, finely concentrated flavours of blackcurrants and cassis form an elegant and positive core with drive and linearity. Herbs and green olive detail emerge in the glass. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannins and the wine is balanced in structure, with soft acidity adding to the fresh fruit and clarity. The extract and tannins carry the wine to a long, textural finish with blackcurrant notes. This is textbook Cabernet Sauvignon with fruit clarity and good structure. Serve with roasted lamb or beef, and with hard cheeses over the next 7-8+ years."
