A benchmark for Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs. Always hugely popular, it is a 'go-to' wine for many and its success is based on Jules' passion for the variety having crafted some of the most successful Sauvignon Blancs over many years. 2016 is no exception.
Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was grown in the Hawkesbury, Lower Wairau and Awatere Valley sub regions of Marlborough. Each parcel of fruit was chosen for its specific contribution to the aroma, flavour and structure of the resultant blend.

Vivacious aromas of citrus and passionfruit burst from the glass, mixed with zingy yet subtle accents of lemongrass and dried herbs. The palate embraces concentrated flavours of citrus and passionfruit and carries subtle hints of fresh summer herbs with lemongrass. These flavours linger giving a long well-rounded finish to the wine."
4 1/2 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"Grown in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, the vibrant, punchy 2016 vintage was handled entirely in tanks and made in a fully dry (1.1 grams/litre of residual sugar) style. Pale, it is highly aromatic, with an array of melon, grapefruit, lime and green-capsicum flavours, in an intensely varietal style with pure, penetrating flavours."
5 Stars & 18.5-/20 Raymond Chan, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is gently full and elegant in depth, showing ripe passionfruit and tropical fruit aromas entwined with notes of fresh herbs and snow peas. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has mouthfilling flavours pf passionfruit and tropical fruit with fresh herb elements. The fruit is rich, but balanced by fresh, lacy acidity and very fine and soft phenolic textures providing the wine with good structure. The fruit has depth and intensity, and plenty of vitality, and carries with zestiness to a long, lingering, thirst-quenching finish. This is a flavoursome and mouthfilling Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit, tropical fruit and herb flavours on a fine-textured, mouthwatering palate with fresh, zesty acidity. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. Fruit from the Hawkesbury, Lower Wairau and Awatere Valley, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 1.1 g/L RS.
90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Vibrant and pungent bouquet with very expressive aromas of tropical fruits, sweet herbs, wet stone, white peach and lemon; green apple layer; inviting. On the palate – juicy, fleshy and very flavourful with sweet fresh herbs, some passion and oineapple fruit; plenty of acidity, silken texture and lengthy finish. Classic example of Jules Taylor SB and Marlborough SB. Drink now and through 2022."
