Seductively brooding, rich flavours of bramble, chocolate and mocha with fine grain tannin. Hand-picked grapes from the acclaimed Clayvin vineyard. Matured in French oak for 18 months.
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2013 Vintage)
"Deep ruby, the beautiful 2013 vintage is sweet-fruited and concentrated, with impressive structure and harmony. Powerful, dense and silky, it has lovely flow across the palate, with a lingering finish."
94/100 James Suckling (2012 Vintage)
"The 2012 vintage brings a deeper sense of fruit presence to this single-vineyard wine. It shows lighter florals but really pins itself to ripe, pristine fruits, with some cola and cedary oak in the mix, too. The palate rolls out a velvet-like texture of fine, fluffy tannins with bright cherry-berry flavor, smooth and nutty through the finish. Good balance - really pure. Drink now."
93/100 Wilfred Wong of Wine.com (2012 Vintage)
"An amazing Pinot Noir that will have your palate doing cartwheels, the super lively 2012 Giesen Clayvin Pinot Noir is one of the world's finest in its category; rich and well defined, wild and pure; shows red fruits and orange peel on the palate; long, zingy finish. Should pair famously with grilled salmon, yes!"
91/100 Burghound.com (2012 Vintage)
"Here the nose exhibits interesting notes of menthol and tangerine peel along with more typical aromas of various red berries, plum and soft spice nuances. I like the sense of underlying tension present on the delicious and nicely focused medium weight flavours that conclude in a dusty, sappy and well-balanced finale that is both persistent and complex. There is some wood evident but my sense is that it will be successfully integrated in due course."
91+/100 Lisa Perrotti-Brown eRobertParker.com, March 2016 (2013 Vintage)
"Pale to medium ruby-purple coloured, the 2013 Single Vineyard Selection Clayvin Pinot Noir has an earthy, garrigue and damp soil laced nose over a core of wild strawberries and red cherries and a pretty waft of jasmine. It has a restrained, earthy, somewhat mineral / iron ore character in the mouth with good intensity and a structured foundation, finishing with great length. It seems to have the stuffing for further development and I'd certainly like to cellar this for 5-6 years+ and come back to it again!"
4 Stars Cuisine Pinot Noir Tasting 2015 (2013 Vintage)
"From a storeyed Marlborough pinot vineyard that was planted back in 1990 comes this dark, tar and rose rendition. The oak has not been spared, a discussion point for the panel, but behind it is a concentrated, beguiling core of fruit. Have it with a beef bourguignon."
91/100 Decanter (2013 Vintage)
"Bursting with black cherry, baked tamarillo, vanilla and spice aromas; sweetly fruity and quite substantial on the palate, with firm grip and juicy acidity. Will improve."
