Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"The Kaiserstuhl district of Germany prizes Pinot Blanc for its spicy subtle fruit flavours and its ability to truly reflect its terroir. Escarpment Vineyard is excited to be able to release the sixth Single Vineyard Pinot Blanc from its Te Muna Road Vineyard.

We believe our site ideally suits Pinot Noir so a classic Pinot Blanc should result. A barrel fermented dry style (<2g/l sugar) was aged for 11 months prior to bottling. The wine was partially fermented on skins for 10 days prior to going to barrel adding mouthfeel and texture. It will certainly create some interesting wine/food pairings. Enjoy while young but this wine will age gracefully for at least 5 years."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"From their vineyard on Te Muna Road, this is an engaging style showing baked apple, oatmeal, nectarine and subtle spice characters on the nose. The palate is concentrated and impressively weighted, and delivers layers of fine texture, leading to a lingering, expansive finish. An Old World-inspired rendition offering textural mouthfeel and savoury complexity. At its best: now to 2020."
4 Stars & 18.0/20 Raymond Chan, November 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues at the heart, paler edged. The nose is tightly bound with intense and concentrated, piquant aromas of yellow plums melded with yellow stonefruits and savoury nutty elements, unfolding floral and mineral notes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate possesses sweet and plush flavours of yellow plums entwined with savoury yellow stonefruits and nutty notes. The fruit richness is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and balanced by fine, dry, grainy phenolic textures that provide structure and line, carrying the wine to a positively weighted, thirst-quenching finish. This is a rich, yellow plum and savoury stonefruited, nutty, dry Pinot Blanc with fresh acidity and positive thirst-quenching structure. Match with seafood and most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. The sixth release of a Pinot Blanc from the Te Muna Road vineyard. Fully barrel-fermented, partially on skins for 10 days to 13.8% alc. and 0.57 g/L RS."
