"​Picked from our 29 year old vines and some of the newer plantings from our Te Awanga vineyards our iconic New Zealand chardonnay has built a golden pedigree over the last 25 years and showcases our unique terroir to its fullest extent.

Hand picked then whole bunch pressed, the free run juice was fermented mainly in new French oak, with the rest in one year and older French oak barriques. Some indigenous yeast ferments were allowed to run up to 30º C giving texture and roundness while the rest fermented cool (12-15º C) to maintain the classic Clearview character. The wine matured in the same barriques until racking in June 2017. Vibrant powerful fruit & oak characters in its youth develop into more subtle toast & cream notes as the wine matures over several years."

"Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a full, voluminous and deeply packed nose with layers of complexing interwoven aromas, showing citrus, yellow stonefruit and tropical fruit along with nutty, creamy barrel-ferment elements and an amalgam of flinty, toasty and smoky oak notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and fulsome with open and accessible flavours of bright, lusciously vibrant, ripe yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits and citrus fruit, along with complex, savoury creamy and nutty barrel-ferment notes melded with flint, smoke and toasty nuances. The flavours build in richness and depth, providing a solid but rounded heart with integrated lacy acidity. The wine flows smoothly with a degree of unctuousness, leading to a long, finish of citrus, flint, nuts and toast. This is a rich and accessible, fulsome and complex Chardonnay with ripe stonefruit, tropical fruit and citrus fruits, intermixed with nuts. Flint ant toasty oak. Serve with roasted pork over the next 4-5+ years. Predominantly from 29 y.o. vines and some newer plantings from the estate ‘Te Awanga’ vineyards, hand-picked and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 49% new French oak barriques, undergoing 100% MLF.”
