"The flavours in the 2015 ‘Platinum’ Merlot / Cabernet are orchestrated, with the Merlot from the Highland Vineyard leading from the front. Robust plum, blackcurrant, toast, vanillin, new oak and spice flavours make this a generous red wine. The palate is rich, full bodied and inviting, the 2015 Highland Merlot / Cabernet is only the sixth ‘Platinum’ label since 1989."

"The very youthful 2015 vintage is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for a year in new and one-year-old French and American oak casks. Deeply coloured, with plenty of personality, it has mouthfilling body and rich, vibrant plum, cassis and spice flavours, with a hint of coffee. Complex and savoury, it's still a baby; open 2019+."

"Even, very dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter edged. The nose is softly concentrate, somewhat compact at present, showing harmoniously entwined aromas of redcurrant and black berried fruits, red plums and red liquorice. The tight core unfolds notes of dark herbs and fragrant, nutty oak with time in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with concentrated redcurrant and red liquorice fruit flavours along with plums and blaccurrants, unfolding nutty, aromatic oak. The mouthfeel is lively and fresh with fine-grained, flowery tannin extraction lending a smooth, satiny mouthfeel and line. The structure grows in presence and is balanced by fresh, lacy acidity providing palate energy and tension. The wine carries to a long, finely concentrated, textured, lingering finish of redcurrants. This is an elegantly concentrated Merlot/Cabernet blend with redcurrant, plum and nutty oak flavours, considerable fine-grained structure and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve with roast lamb and beef, and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 8-10 years. Called the ‘Platinum Label’, this being the sixth release since 1989. A blend of 60% Merlot from the elevated ‘Highland’ site adjacent to the ‘Burnfoot’ vineyard in the Tuki Tuki valley, and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from the ‘Ohiti’ estate, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine on skins over two weeks and aged in new French and American oak barriques."
